Record-setting heat will continue this weekend before a cooling trend slowly begins to take hold.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain in the 90s in the L.A. basin and above 100 degrees in inland valleys. Desert areas will be even hotter. The one relief valve will be the beaches, where temperatures will hit the 80s.
On Friday, Palmdale set an all-time record for the day, hitting 107 degrees (the old record was 106, set in 1999).
